At American Energy Advisors, we know how to make an air conditioning system work for your Omaha, Elkhorn, or Gretna-area home. Preventative maintenance keeps your home air conditioning equipment in top condition. But when you’re ready for a new system, remember:
In older homes, it helps to first reduce air leakage and increase insulation, then to upgrade your air conditioning system with a high-efficiency Carrier central air conditioner or a mini split heat pump system.
Systems for new houses must be sized properly. Our builder services team will design a system based on a properly done Manual J load calculation.
Oversized residential HVAC systems can be the direct cause comfort problems. An air conditioner has two jobs:
Lower the air temperature
Remove moisture from the air
An oversized air conditioner will only run for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, not long enough to get rid of the moisture that it has pulled from the air, so most of the moisture stays in the house. Properly sized air conditioners run for 30 minutes or more, completing the dehumidification process.
Oversized equipment also costs you money. It costs more to purchase and gives you high operating costs. The constant starting and stopping means you’ll be repairing it more often as well -- and replacing it sooner!
